Episode 217 - Wendy Daniel
For nearly 40 years, Wendy Daniel has been one of the most influential figures behind the scenes of Alberta's country music industry. As the longtime Director of Marketing & Entertainment at Ranchman's, she's helped shape careers, launch artists, and build Ranchman's into the legendary venue known across North America as Canada's Greatest Honky Tonk.
Wendy shares stories from almost four decades at the heart of Calgary's western and country music scene. From the early days of Ranchman's and the artists who got their start on its stage, to the challenges of navigating closures, ownership changes, and preserving the soul of an iconic western institution, Wendy has seen it all.
We talk about her recent induction into the Country Music Alberta Hall of Fame, the honour of having the Wendy Daniels Stage named after her, and what it takes to build a lasting legacy in the music business. Wendy also gives us an inside look at one of the biggest transitions in Ranchman's history as the legendary Macleod Trail location prepares for its final chapter before moving into its brand-new home at Ranchman's Village in 2027.

The Hosts
Ted Stovin
Yet another failed contestant, this guy didn't make it as a bull rider but he does consider himself a moderately successful college dropout. He's the creator of Everything Cowboy Inc. and co-founder of the Cowboy Sh!t Podcast. Since neither of those pay super well, he's also the sales rep for Canada West Boots and Montana Silversmiths in Alberta as well as a part time audio enthusiast mixing the music and working production at some of the largest western events in Canada. He resides in Calgary.
Dustin Edwards
Like all rodeo announcers before him, Dustin Edwards couldn’t make money in the rodeo arena but could talk a lot. This led to his now 16 year career announcing rodeos across Canada. Despite having a face for radio (and podcasting), Dustin has also been the on-camera broadcaster for six Canadian Finals Rodeos. When not down the rodeo trail, Dustin works for the Calgary Sports & Entertainment Group as the Manager, Business Operations for the Calgary Roughnecks NLL team. Dustin and his partner Aly stay busy at their farm outside Drumheller and with their business endeavours Pearl & Hart and Barney’s Adventure Park.
