Episode 220 - Kelsi Mayne
We’re hanging out with Canadian country artist Kelsi Mayne, who joined us during the Calgary Stampede for a conversation that was every bit as entertaining as you’d expect.
Kelsi has carved out her own lane in country music, blending country roots with Motown soul, hip-hop and a little rock attitude. A Windsor, Ontario native who spent nearly a decade writing in Nashville, she’s become one of Canada’s most exciting independent artists, with millions of streams, multiple CMAOntario nominations, a 2024 International Songwriting Competition win, and appearances at some of the biggest country festivals in the country.
And this wasn’t just a sit-down interview — Kelsi brought the music with her. She even grabbed a guitar and sang a few songs for us right there in the studio.
We talk music, songwriting, the Calgary Stampede, life on the road, and what it’s like building a career on your own terms. Kelsi also shares some of the story behind her music and the hustle that has helped make her one of Canada’s standout independent country artists.

Ted Stovin
Yet another failed contestant, this guy didn't make it as a bull rider but he does consider himself a moderately successful college dropout. He's the creator of Everything Cowboy Inc. and co-founder of the Cowboy Sh!t Podcast. Since neither of those pay super well, he's also the sales rep for Canada West Boots and Montana Silversmiths in Alberta as well as a part time audio enthusiast mixing the music and working production at some of the largest western events in Canada. He resides in Calgary.
Dustin Edwards
Like all rodeo announcers before him, Dustin Edwards couldn’t make money in the rodeo arena but could talk a lot. This led to his now 16 year career announcing rodeos across Canada. Despite having a face for radio (and podcasting), Dustin has also been the on-camera broadcaster for six Canadian Finals Rodeos. When not down the rodeo trail, Dustin works for the Calgary Sports & Entertainment Group as the Manager, Business Operations for the Calgary Roughnecks NLL team. Dustin and his partner Aly stay busy at their farm outside Drumheller and with their business endeavours Pearl & Hart and Barney’s Adventure Park.
